Zamico excellent in the Czech 2000 Guineas



On Sunday, May 15, the spring part of the racing season culminated in front of the full auditorium of the Chuchle Arena Prague. Both Class A races belonged to three-year-old horses, the absolute highlight was the 101st Conseq Czech 2000 Guineas (Class A – national listed, 1m, 600 ths. CZK).

Thirteen colts and one filly entered the first part of the Classic Triplecrown. The December winner from France Westminster Night who ran in the Czech Republic for the first time, was the favorite. He finished second, when Czech-bred Zamico under jockey Milan Zatloukal won by four lenghts in the time 1:36,81, the second fastest time in the history of the race. Zamico finished second in trial race Professor Michal Memorial Stakes three weeks ago and winner of this race Arkhangelsk placed third now.

Zamico, the son of the 2009 Oaks winner Rabbit Zamindar, is owned and bred by Rabbit Trhový Štěpánov. For this stable and owner Zdeněk Jandejsek it was the fifth classic win, the second one in the Czech Republic (the first one was the Oaks of Zamico's mother). Four-time trainer-champion Allan Petrlík and former jockey-champion in Switzerland Milan Zatloukal achieved the eighth classic success, for Petrlík it was fifth in the Czech Republic and second in the Czech 2000 Guineas, for Zatloukal the sixth local and already fourth in the Czech 2000 Guineas.

Adepts of participation in the June Czech Derby presented themselves in the 36th JUDr. Otakar Frankenberger Memorial Stakes (Class A, 1m 3f, 150 ths. CZK), whose last two years were won by horses, which later triumphed in the Derby itself. In this year's edition, by the K-K Metal a.s. owned and by Radek Holčák trained Well Prepared, who ran for the first time in this season, won by one lenght under 2021 jockey-champion Jaromír Šafář, which ended the wait for this year's premiere win.
